Future of Booster Juice

The future of Booster Juice is encouraging. Why? Because Canadians have become more health conscious and according to Wishewan, President of Booster Juice, “Canadians had only a cursory interest in sound nutrition practices two decades ago.” Their freshly squeezed, low fat and high nutrient smoothies have differentiated their products from their competitors. Moreover, their prices are highly competitive compared to others in the juice and smoothie business.

Dale Wishewan is optimistic that due to health related sickness caused by obesity, stress, cancer and diabetes, Canadians would be more proactive in considering healthier choices; one of which, would be emphasis on what they eat and the benefits associated with what they eat. Moreover, families are aware of the preventative benefits of healthy eating and they encourage their kids to eat right.

The following are reasons why Booster Juice is optimistic that the future of the company would be productive, rewarding and profitable:

  • Walking the walk: Booster Juice optimizes on community events to promote health living. Wishewan believes that building an image within the community is essential to success and it is a great way of promoting its products and healthy lifestyle iniatives.
  • Talking the talk: Wishewan is convinced his company is on the right track by promoting the business through word-of-mouth.
  • Healthy: almost everyday the media reminds us of the risks of unhealthy eating and the health risks associated with not eating well. As such, people consume beverages that are more nutritious.
  • Variety: they offer a variety of choices to consumers which has the ability to satisfy a larger chunk of the population.
  • Expansion: the more profitable the business becomes, the more would be invested into the business which would increase their efficiency. Moreover, they would be able to expand their franchise opportunity locally and globally.

In conluding, Booster Juice has come a long way since 1999. They now operate in four out of the seven continents and the President, Dale Wishewan had his eyes set on growing the business globally. Having that strong conviction, I must admit that the future of Booster Juice is in good hands.

Booster Juice - Corporate Social Responsibility

On their website, they said at Booster Juice they are committed to social responsibility and taking an active role in the communities they live in. In fact, Booster Juice was founded on the principals of family – that is why they are taking an active role in getting involved with causes they believe in, especially those involving their most important asset: children.

Following is a list of some of the charities and events they took part in to raise funds to help the community. They are:
  1. Alberta Cancer Foundation and Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation: raised $90,000 from the longest softball game ever
  2. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF): for every goal the Oilers scored in the Stanley Cup, they contribute $25 to the JDRF foundation
  3. Easter Seals: in 2011, Booster Juice launched their inaugural campaign raising $35,894 for Easter Seals programs and services across the country
  4. Booster Juice teamed up with Discovery Toys for the 2nd Annual TOY RAISER. Raised $20,000 to purchase toys, books and games for sick kids to brighten their hospital stay
Click on the links below to read more on some of the amazing events they have contributed to:

To contact them about getting involved in your charity or event, use the “contact” form in the Talk Section of their site, www.boosterjuice.com.

So, its clear that Booster Juice is not just doing business for profit, they are also a good corporate citizen. On their website, they said that any charity or organisation can contact them so that they can help to raise money for the less fortunate, isn't that a wonderful gesture on their part?

Booster Juice Jets Off to South America

Well, unlike our RIM counterparts, Booster Juice is not holding back. They are looking for potential markets everywhere around the globe and not surprisingly; their new target is two stores in Curitibia, Brazil. Moreover, they already have the Brazilian Thunder smoothies which are a blend of what the Brazilian should enjoy among the many varieties on offer.

An interesting point to note is that they have strategically opened these stores ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics which will be hosted in Brazil. Mr. Wishewan’s dream is to increase brand awareness of Booster Juice globally, what a more opportune time to do it than before the FIFA World Cup and Olympics?

All this is in addition to new franchise expansions in Mexico which I didn’t mention earlier. Mr. Wishewan hopes to expand his franchise to the United Kingdom and Qatar in the near future. He believes that global expansion will not hurt the company, but rather be beneficial in many ways. Furthermore, he said his goal was always to be an international company, yet being cautious; I suppose in the sense of maintaining control and ensuring the business is successful in each country before expanding in many countries and then realising a few of them aren’t doing so well.

Do you think that Booster Juice will gain worldwide brand recognition? They are already in four of the seven continents, viz.: North America, South America, Europe and Asia. What are their odds of being in every continent?

Booster Juice Fit Kids Foundation

Booster Juice Fit Kids Foundation is a new charitable organisation formed by Booster Juice. The organisation will primarily focus on obesity and awareness around the issue.

Dale Wishewan, CEO and President of Booster Juice said, “Right now there is no real charity or foundation across Canada that is doing anything with childhood obesity and it one of the greatest things happening right now in Canada.”

He also said, “We think it’s something that can be prevented more so than cancer or diabetes – which you have no means of controlling. We think obesity can be controlled, so if we can help through the form of education and funding through our foundation, it was just a natural tie-in for us.”

The organisation has plans to provide the following in the future:
  • Lunch programs for schools
  • Days where all proceeds from sales will go towards the foundation
  • Educational information on healthy living and eating
  • Celebrity association

Moreover, Booster Juice is hoping to incorporate healthy lifestyle changes for individuals at a very young age with the hope that they will lead a healthier life. I think personally it is a great initiative by Booster Juice to give back to the community by focusing on our kids. What do you think of the foundation and the initiative taken by Booster Juice?

Dale Wishewan - Entrepreneur of the Year

Dale Wishewan, President and CEO of Booster Juice, received the Foodservice and Hospitality Industry’s prestigious award for Entrepreneur of the Year 2005. He was also presented with the highly-touted Prairie Region Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award from Ernst and Young. Isn’t that amazing? Only six years after opening his first store, that marks an outstanding achievement for someone who believed in himself. It started in his garage when he was whipping up smoothie flavours and his family and friends called him crazy for quitting a stable, well-paying job to open a juice bar.

Moreover, we all know about his resounding success with over 200 stores worldwide. However, he describes himself as an optimist. He didn’t have a business plan when he opened his first store in November, 1999 in Edmonton, Canada. Being a Canadian himself, he knew Canadians are very much value-driven. His family were skeptical and told him that no one is going to pay four bucks for a drink. Nonetheless, it proved that customers are willing to pay that much for a healthy and tasty alternative.

His dream is to open 400 stores in Canada; do you think he will succeed? Why?

For more information on his success and a picture of himself and his award, please click on this link http://www.boosterjuice.com/pdfs/2SqueezeMore.pdf
